Platform Guide

Everything you need to know to achieve and maintain AI compliance. From your first scan to full automation.

Getting Started

AICompliant automates AI compliance across US state laws, the EU AI Act, and international frameworks. The platform continuously monitors regulatory changes, maps them to your AI systems, identifies compliance gaps, generates required documentation, and tracks your progress to 100% compliance.

1

Choose your plan

All plans include a 14-day free trial. Starter ($500/mo) covers up to 10 AI systems with 6-hour scans. Professional ($1,500/mo) unlocks unlimited systems with 15-minute real-time autopilot. Enterprise ($10,000/mo) adds international regulations, SSO, white-label, and on-prem deployment.
2

Complete onboarding

Tell us about your company: industry, operating states, and AI systems. Our compliance engine immediately maps applicable regulations and generates your first risk assessment.
3

Review your compliance dashboard

Within minutes, you will see your compliance score, penalty exposure, applicable regulations, and a prioritized task list. The higher your penalty exposure, the more urgent the regulation.

Onboarding Your Organization

The onboarding wizard collects the information our compliance engine needs to map your regulatory landscape. The more accurate the data, the more precise your compliance roadmap.

Company Profile

Name, industry, employee count, revenue range, and headquarters state. This determines which regulations apply based on your company size and sector — many AI laws have specific thresholds and exemptions.

Operating States

Select every state where you do business, have employees, or serve customers. Each state has different AI regulations — Colorado's SB 205 applies to insurance decisions, while Illinois AIVIA covers video interviews. Missing a state means missing a regulation.

AI Systems

Register each AI system you build or use: chatbots, recommendation engines, fraud detection, hiring tools, content moderation, etc. Include the vendor (OpenAI, Anthropic, in-house), department, and which states it is deployed in. Systems making consequential decisions trigger additional compliance requirements.

Understanding Your Regulations

After onboarding, your Regulations page shows every AI law that applies to your organization, ranked by penalty exposure. This is not a static list — it updates automatically as new laws are enacted, existing laws are amended, and your operational footprint changes.

What you will see for each regulation:

  • ✓ Jurisdiction and enforcement agency
  • ✓ Effective date and current status (active, enacted, upcoming)
  • ✓ Maximum penalty exposure for non-compliance
  • ✓ Specific requirements your organization must satisfy
  • ✓ Compliance tasks mapped to each requirement
  • ✓ Document types required for evidence of compliance

Pro tip: Focus on regulations with the highest penalty exposure first. A single violation of the EU AI Act can cost up to €35M, while Colorado SB 205 carries up to $20K per violation. The dashboard sorts by penalty exposure by default to help you prioritize.

Registering AI Systems

Your AI Systems inventory is the core of compliance tracking. Every regulation requirement is mapped against your specific systems. Missing a system means missing compliance requirements.

Information to provide for each system:

System name

e.g., 'Customer Support Chatbot', 'Loan Underwriting Model'

System type

LLM, recommendation, classification, computer vision, etc.

Vendor

OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, in-house, third-party

Department

Engineering, HR, Customer Support, Legal, Finance

Deployed states

Where this system processes data or makes decisions

Consequential decisions

Does it affect employment, credit, insurance, housing?

Data types

Personal data, protected class data, biometric data

Risk tier

Minimal, limited, high, or unacceptable risk (EU AI Act alignment)

Enterprise users: Enable cloud connectors (AWS CloudTrail, GCP Audit, Azure Activity) to automatically discover AI systems deployed across your infrastructure. The platform detects SageMaker, Bedrock, Vertex AI, Azure Cognitive Services, and other AI services without manual registration.

Working With Compliance Tasks

The platform generates compliance tasks automatically from regulation requirements mapped to your AI systems. Each task is specific, actionable, and tied to a deadline.

Task workflow:

1

Prioritize by penalty exposure

Tasks are ranked by the penalty exposure of their parent regulation. A $35M EU AI Act task is more urgent than a $1K Illinois AIVIA task, even if the deadline is later.
2

Assign to your team

Assign tasks to compliance officers, engineers, or legal team members. Each person gets email notifications when tasks are assigned or become overdue.
3

Track progress

Update status (Not Started → In Progress → Done), add notes, attach deliverables. The compliance score updates in real time as tasks are completed.
4

Generate supporting documents

Many tasks require documentation as evidence — impact assessments, policies, audit reports. Generate these directly from the task view.

Generating Compliance Documents

AICompliant generates 31 types of compliance documents tailored to your specific organization, AI systems, and applicable regulations. Documents are generated by AI and pre-populated with your company data, system details, and regulatory requirements.

Document categories include:

📋

Impact Assessments

AI impact assessments required by Colorado, Connecticut, EU AI Act

📜

Compliance Policies

Internal AI governance policies, acceptable use, risk management

🔍

Audit Reports

Bias audit reports, algorithmic audit documentation, annual reviews

🛡️

Risk Assessments

Risk scoring documentation, mitigation plans, residual risk analysis

💬

Consumer Notices

AI disclosure notices, opt-out mechanisms, transparency statements

📄

Regulatory Filings

Registration documents, conformity declarations, incident reports

Document bundles:

Use the “Generate Compliance Package” feature to create all required documents for a specific regulation in one click. Bundles are sorted by penalty exposure so you cover the highest-risk regulations first. Professional and Enterprise plans include unlimited document generation.

Risk Scoring & Scenarios

The Risk page provides a composite risk score that factors in regulation coverage, task completion, document status, system risk tiers, and penalty exposure. The score updates continuously as you make progress.

Risk score components:

  • ⚠ Regulation coverage — percentage of applicable regulations with active compliance programs
  • ⚠ Task completion — ratio of completed to total compliance tasks, weighted by priority
  • ⚠ Documentation status — percentage of required documents generated and current
  • ⚠ System risk exposure — aggregate risk from your AI system inventory (higher risk tiers = higher score impact)
  • ⚠ Penalty exposure — total potential penalties across all applicable regulations
  • ⚠ Jurisdiction breadth — number of distinct jurisdictions where you have compliance obligations

Autopilot — Continuous Monitoring

Autopilot runs continuous compliance scans that detect new regulations, track changes to existing laws, refresh your task list, update risk scores, and generate alerts — all without any manual intervention.

Starter

Every 6 hours

4 scans per day

Professional

Every 15 minutes

96 scans per day — real-time

Enterprise

Every 15 minutes

+ Cloud connectors + Discovery

What Autopilot does on each scan:

  • ✓ Checks federal and state legislative databases for new AI-related bills and amendments
  • ✓ Updates regulation status (proposed → enacted → effective → amended)
  • ✓ Recalculates which regulations apply to your organization based on your current operating footprint
  • ✓ Generates new compliance tasks for newly applicable regulations
  • ✓ Updates penalty exposure calculations when fine schedules change
  • ✓ Sends Slack and email alerts for new regulations, overdue tasks, and risk score changes

Best Practices

Register ALL AI systems — even low-risk ones

Many regulations apply broadly. A chatbot you consider low-risk may trigger requirements in certain states. Let the compliance engine determine applicability rather than making assumptions.

Keep operating states current

If you expand to a new state or start serving customers there, add it immediately. Each state may have unique AI regulations that create new compliance obligations.

Review documents before distributing

AI-generated documents are pre-populated with your company and system data, but should be reviewed by your legal team before submission to regulators. They are starting points, not finished products.

Use the Compliance Timeline

The Timeline view shows all regulatory deadlines, task due dates, and audit schedules in one chronological view. Use it to plan ahead — some regulations have implementation deadlines that require months of preparation.

Set up alerts early

Connect Slack or configure email alerts on day one. Regulatory changes can happen at any time — the sooner you know, the more time you have to respond.

API & Integrations

Professional and Enterprise plans include REST API access for programmatic integration. Enterprise plans also support custom integrations with popular tools.
